Cost of Studying in Ireland for Indian Students: Fees, Living Costs and Full Budget (2027)

Last updated: 2 November 2026. Rupee figures use €1 = ₹106 (ECB reference rate, 30 October 2026) and are rounded.

The cost of studying in Ireland for Indian students is usually the single biggest worry for families.

A one-year master’s in Ireland can cost anywhere from about ₹37 lakh to over ₹60 lakh, all in.

The gap depends on three choices: your university, your course and your city.

Most cost guides online quote old numbers or skip the one-off costs that catch students out.

In this guide, you’ll learn the real 2026/27 tuition fees, living costs by city, one-off costs, a full first-year budget, and how part-time work and loans fit in.

In a Hurry? Read This Quick TL;DR Summary

  • Tuition: most non-EU master’s fees for 2026/27 sit between €13,500 and €29,500 (₹14.3–₹31.3 lakh), depending on university and field.
  • Undergraduate: roughly €18,500–€29,500 (₹19.6–₹31.3 lakh) a year, with medicine far higher.
  • Living costs: Dublin universities estimate about €21,000–€27,000 (₹22.3–₹28.7 lakh) a year, and Cork or Limerick are cheaper.

What Is the Real Cost of Studying in Ireland for Indian Students?

Your first-year bill has four main parts.

  • Tuition fees: set by each university, and higher for non-EU students.
  • Rent: usually your biggest living cost, especially in Dublin.
  • Everyday living: food, bills, transport, phone and social life.
  • One-off costs: visa, immigration registration, insurance, flights and deposits.

Every figure below comes from an official university, government or Daft.ie page, linked in the text.

Fees change every year, so always check your own course page before you pay anything.

How Much Are Tuition Fees for Non-EU Students in 2026/27?

As an Indian citizen, you pay the non-EU (international) fee at every Irish university.

That fee usually stays fixed for one year, then may rise for later years of a longer course.

1. Master’s Fees at 8 Irish Universities

Business analytics, finance and computer science are the most popular choices for Indian students.

Here’s what they cost for full-time non-EU students, taken straight from each university’s fee schedule.

University Business example Computing example Year
UCD (Dublin) MSc Business Analytics: €26,180 (₹27.8 lakh) MSc Computer Science (Conversion): €29,500 (₹31.3 lakh) 2026/27
Trinity College Dublin Business Analytics and AI: €23,950 (₹25.4 lakh) Masters in Computer Science: €27,790 (₹29.5 lakh) 2026/27
UCC (Cork) MSc Business Analytics: €22,300 (₹23.6 lakh) Data Science and Analytics: €28,000 (₹29.7 lakh) 2026/27
University of Galway MSc Business Analytics: €21,640 (₹22.9 lakh) MSc Computer Science (AI): €29,450 (₹31.2 lakh) 2026/27 business; 2027/28 computing
University of Limerick MSc Business Analytics: €20,400 (₹21.6 lakh) MSc AI and Machine Learning: €20,800 (₹22.0 lakh) 2026/27
DCU (Dublin) Business MScs: €23,500 (₹24.9 lakh) MSc in Computing: €25,000 (₹26.5 lakh) 2027/28
Maynooth University MSc Business Analytics: €18,000 (₹19.1 lakh) MSc Computer Science (Software Eng.): €18,000 (₹19.1 lakh) 2026/27
TU Dublin MSc in Finance: €13,500 (₹14.3 lakh) MSc in Computer Science: €21,750 (₹23.1 lakh) 2026/27

Engineering master’s fees follow a similar pattern, from €14,500 at TU Dublin to €29,500 at UCD.

An MBA costs more. Trinity lists €37,300 (₹39.5 lakh) and Maynooth lists €25,000 (₹26.5 lakh) for 2026/27.

2. Undergraduate Fees

Bachelor’s degrees run for three to five years, so multiply the yearly fee and expect rises.

  • Business or commerce: €23,170 (₹24.6 lakh) at UCD and €21,700 (₹23.0 lakh) at UCC.
  • Computer science, engineering and science: €29,500 (₹31.3 lakh) at UCD and €27,000 (₹28.6 lakh) at UCC.
  • Arts: €18,500 (₹19.6 lakh) at UCC.
  • Medicine: €63,890 (₹67.7 lakh) at UCD and €52,100 (₹55.2 lakh) at UCC.

3. Student Levies on Top of Tuition

Some universities add a small levy, while others build it into the quoted fee.

  • Trinity: €314 in student levies and charges for a one-year full-time postgraduate degree (TCD, what fees do I need to pay).
  • UCC: a €210 capitation fee (UCC capitation fee).
  • Galway: a €140 student levy, shown in its fee tables.
  • UCD and UL: their quoted non-EU fees already include the main student levy.

4. Fees for 2027/28 Are Already Rising

If you’re starting in September 2027, you’ll pay the 2027/28 fee, not the 2026/27 one.

Several universities have already published it, and the rises are modest but real.

  • UCD MSc Computer Science (Conversion): €29,500 to €30,095 (₹31.9 lakh) (UCD fees).
  • Trinity Masters in Computer Science: €27,790 to €28,760 (₹30.5 lakh).

Those are rises of about 2–3.5%, so add a small buffer if your course has no 2027/28 fee yet.

How Much Does It Cost to Live in Each Irish City?

Living costs drive the cost of studying in Ireland for Indian students almost as much as tuition, mostly because of rent.

Universities publish their own estimates, and these are the most reliable figures for students.

City Official estimate Source
Dublin €21,050–€27,050 a year for postgraduates (₹22.3–₹28.7 lakh) Trinity College Dublin
Dublin €1,735 a month at the lowest, €2,445 at the median (₹1.84–₹2.59 lakh) UCD
Dublin €1,500–€1,800 a month (₹1.59–₹1.91 lakh) DCU
Dublin €1,320–€2,214 a month living away from home (₹1.40–₹2.35 lakh) TU Dublin
Cork €1,181–€2,923 a month including rent; €481–€701 without rent (₹1.25–₹3.10 lakh) UCC
Limerick €1,000–€1,200 a month including rent, food and transport (₹1.06–₹1.27 lakh) Education in Ireland
Galway No overall estimate published; item prices only University of Galway

The Limerick figure comes from a UL student’s guide on the government-backed Education in Ireland site, not a university survey.

Trinity’s yearly range already includes €300 for immigration, €550 for health insurance and about €2,000 for flights.

1. Rent Is the Big Variable

Daft.ie’s Q2 2026 report puts the average double room in a shared house at €1,021 (₹1.08 lakh) a month in Dublin city centre (Daft.ie Q2 2026).

In Cork, Galway and Limerick, double rooms average €682–€789 (₹72,300–₹83,600) a month.

For room types, campus residences, deposits and scam warnings, read our student accommodation guide for Ireland.

2. Everyday Costs Outside Rent

UCD’s median student spends about €490 (₹51,900) a month on food and €75 (₹7,950) on a Leap card.

In Cork, UCC estimates food at €120–€240 and bus travel at €26–€30 a month.

Utilities are the hardest cost to predict, and Trinity budgets €1,000–€2,000 (₹1.06–₹2.12 lakh) a year for them.

What One-Off Costs Should You Budget For?

These costs hit before or just after you land, often before any part-time wages arrive.

Cost Amount Source
Study visa (single entry) ₹5,300, plus the VFS service fee (the official fee is €60, but India charges the rupee amount, about €50 today) Embassy of Ireland, New Delhi
IRP registration €300 (₹31,800), every year you renew ISD
Private health insurance About €550–€690 (₹58,300–₹73,100) a year TCD and UCD estimates
Flights About €2,000 (₹2.12 lakh), variable TCD estimate
Rent deposit Usually one month’s rent; UCD residences quote €750 (₹79,500) UCD
Bedding and setting up About €200 (₹21,200) UCD
Laptop, if you need one About €760 (₹80,600) UCD

The flight figure is Trinity’s own estimate, not a fare quote, so check live prices for your dates.

The insurance line uses university estimates. Student-specific plans can cost less: about €177 (₹18,800) a year with Vhi at age 18–20, or from €229 (₹24,300) with Study and Protect. Our health insurance guide compares them.

Budget for things going wrong, too. A public A&E visit without a GP referral costs €100 (₹10,600), and an injury unit visit costs €75 (₹7,950) (Citizens Information). In an emergency, call 112 or 999.

Visa and IRP fees change from time to time, so recheck them before you apply.

For the full visa process, see our Ireland student visa from India guide.

What Will Your First Year Cost in Total?

This table builds a first-year budget for a one-year business or computing master’s.

It’s an illustration of the cost of studying in Ireland for Indian students, not a quote, so swap in your own course fee and rent.

Cost (12 months) Dublin Cork, Galway or Limerick
Tuition €23,950–€29,500 (₹25.4–₹31.3 lakh) €18,400–€28,000 (₹19.5–₹29.7 lakh)
Rent €9,744–€12,252 (₹10.3–₹13.0 lakh) €7,404–€9,468 (₹7.8–₹10.0 lakh)
Everyday living €8,900–€12,900 (₹9.4–₹13.7 lakh) €5,772–€8,412 (₹6.1–₹8.9 lakh)
One-off costs €3,912–€4,261 (₹4.1–₹4.5 lakh) €3,717–€4,029 (₹3.9–₹4.3 lakh)
Total €46,506–€58,913 (₹49.3–₹62.4 lakh) €35,293–€49,909 (₹37.4–₹52.9 lakh)

Here’s how we built each line.

  • Tuition: Dublin uses Trinity’s Business Analytics and AI fee up to UCD’s computer science conversion fee. The regional column runs from UL’s MSc Finance (€18,400) to UCC’s Data Science (€28,000).
  • Rent: 12 months of Daft.ie Q2 2026 room rents. Dublin uses a single room (€812) to a double room (€1,021); the regional column uses €617–€789.
  • Everyday living: Dublin uses Trinity’s non-rent estimate minus its immigration, insurance and flight lines. The regional column uses UCC’s €481–€701 a month.
  • One-off costs: visa, IRP, insurance, flights, one month’s rent as deposit and €200 for setting up.

It leaves out levies, a laptop and any second-year fees, so keep a buffer of at least 10%.

Remember that the visa rules ask for proof of money, not just a budget. Our proof of funds guide explains what you need to show.

Can Part-Time Work Help Pay Your Costs?

Yes, but it will cover some of your living costs, not your tuition.

On a Stamp 2 student permission, you can work up to 20 hours a week during term and 40 hours a week in the holidays (ISD student permission).

The holiday periods are June to September and 15 December to 15 January.

1. What Is the Minimum Wage?

The national minimum wage is €14.15 an hour since 1 January 2026 (Citizens Information).

The rise to €14.94 from 1 January 2027 is now confirmed in law.

The National Minimum Wage Order 2026 (S.I. No. 533 of 2026) was signed on 15 October 2026 (Irish Statute Book).

2. What Could You Earn?

Hours a week At €14.15 (2026) At €14.94 (from 2027)
20 hours (term time) €283 (₹30,000) €298.80 (₹31,700)
40 hours (holidays) €566 (₹60,000) €597.60 (₹63,300)

These are gross figures before any tax, PRSI or USC.

At 20 hours a week, €14.94 works out to roughly €1,295 (₹1.37 lakh) a month.

That could cover a regional room, or most of your non-rent costs in Dublin.

But jobs aren’t guaranteed, and your first few weeks are spent finding one.

Never plan to pay tuition or visa funds from future wages.

How Can You Cut Your Costs?

Small choices add up over 12 months.

  • Compare universities, not just cities: the same MSc can cost €18,000 at Maynooth and €29,500 at UCD.
  • Apply for scholarships early: most fee waivers close months before term. Start with our Government of Ireland scholarship guide.
  • Watch for faculty awards: DCU lists a €4,400 non-EU fee reduction for eligible engineering and computing courses in 2027/28.
  • Get a student Leap card: it cuts bus and train fares across Ireland.
  • Cook at home: UCD’s food estimates range from €350 to €670 a month, and the gap is mostly eating out.
  • Consider a regional city: rent alone can be €2,000–€3,000 (₹2.1–₹3.2 lakh) a year cheaper outside Dublin.
  • Bring what you already own: UCD budgets about €760 for a laptop, so a working laptop from home saves real money.

What Should You Know About Education Loans?

Most Indian families fund at least part of the fees with an education loan.

Take SBI’s Global Ed-Vantage scheme as an example of what a bank offers (SBI Global Ed-Vantage).

  • Coverage: Ireland is on its list of eligible countries.
  • Loan size: above ₹7.5 lakh and up to ₹3 crore.
  • Collateral: required in general, though some select institutions get collateral-free loans up to ₹50 lakh.
  • Repayment: starts 6 months after the course ends, over up to 15 years.
  • Processing fee: 0.5% of the loan, between ₹10,000 and ₹50,000, plus GST.

Interest is charged during the course and moratorium, so your balance grows before you repay.

Rates change often, so compare the latest rate cards from at least three banks or NBFCs.

Check how the lender pays your university, because the €6,000 visa deposit must be paid before you apply.

Ask your bank and a tax adviser about tax on foreign remittances and any interest deduction, as these rules have changed recently.

The Bottom Line: How Much Should You Budget for Ireland?

Plan on about ₹37–₹53 lakh outside Dublin and ₹49–₹62 lakh in Dublin for a one-year master’s.

Tuition is fixed once you choose a course, but rent and lifestyle are yours to control.

Part-time work helps with living costs, not with fees.
